For Spring Break this year I borrowed some money from my dad and went to LA on frequent flier miles. I saw lots of ghosts from my Interlochen past. I could have seen some high school people while I was here, but none of them had any free time when I was available, which was a bit disappointing.
The quasi itinerary:
SATURDAY
-arrived Saturday afternoon and went to Doughboy's for dinner
-later in the evening we went to Birds, Whitney's favorite bar which is across the street from the Celebrity Center for Scientology
-(Whitney was my roommate my senior year of high school at Interlochen
SUNDAY
-Miraculously NOT hungover, Whitney and I went to the Hollywood Farmer's Market and then to her
-in the evening we went to LAX to pick up Emily (a horn player I knew in Chicago) and Ben Jaber (a horn player from Houston who also went to IAA and came up to Chicago a few times). Ben took us to Paco's Mexican restaurant as a thank you for picking him up from the airport. the portions were huge and tasty. Fun times.
MONDAY
-Ceasar Chavez Day. The Hollyhock House was closed, but Whitney and I wandered the grounds and appreciated the view.
-I took the audio walking tour of the Disney Performing Arts Center, went to the MOCA and wandered around the 2/4 of the exhibits that were needed. Most of it was just kinda OK, but I got my brother Dan a really cool present

Disney Performing Arts Center
-Whitney skipped class in the evening and I took her to Clifton's Cafeteria for some awesomely tacky comfort food. It made me feel icky from too much grease and bad tea so I didn't go to the Diddy Riese's, a cookie place with Whitney, Nic and Ben Jaber. Then we went to a bar and then to see V for Vendetta, which was AWESOME.
Tuesday
-Breakfast at Good
-Whitney left for work early in the morning and around lunch time Ben Jaber came and picked me up at her place. We went out to San Fernando to see a studio bassoon player who also makes uilleann pipe reeds. We happened to get there while pipe guy, the guy who recorded all the piping for Braveheart, Titanic, and tons of other movies was there. It was cool to listen to these guys talking about piping and they were more than happy to answer my questions about piping. It was very cool.
-Heading back into WestWood, we went to Finn McCool's pub in Santa Monica. I was about ready to pass out when I got home to Whitney's place.
WEDNSDAY
-Whitney dropped me off at Emily's house on her way to the airport for her accepted student thing for UT Austin's
